Home Care Technician

Reporting To: Field Manager

Contract Type: Permanent - Monday to Friday Plus on call rota

Overall Purpose

To carry out the deliveries, installations and removals of oxygen products including risk assessments and servicing of equipment for NHS patients. To ensure care and consideration, keeping in mind the needs of the patient at all times..

Duties and Responsibilities

Key Relationships

  • Communicate daily in a professional manner with patients, carers, HCP’s, Planning department and Call Centre
  • Report to the local Field Manager
  • Communicate with the Respiratory Nurse(s) when required

Time Commitment

  • Monday to Friday (8.30am to 5.pm) – will be expected to be part of the on call rota in accordance with local manager
  • Must have a flexible attitude towards working hours as occasional overtime & weekend work may be required.
  • Must be available to carry out on call duties at any time over a 7 day a week when required.

Key Responsibilities

i) To install, deliver, remove and service oxygen products with some problem solving in line with our service level agreements
ii) To ensure all associated consumables are delivered in accordance with the patients Home Oxygen Order Form (HOOF)
iii) To complete four hour emergency calls in accordance with service level agreements, where required
iv) To participate in an on-call rota – on average one night per week and one weekend in four
v) To work with local depot managers and field operational managers to achieve delivery KPIs
vi) To ensure compliance with contractual KPIs
vii) To ensure that patients receive a personable and quality service at all times
viii) To follow safe working procedures and operating instructions
ix) To follow all statutory compliance and governance procedures
x) To ensure all data entered on to the mobile PDA device is accurate
xi) To be available for on call services when required by the business

Education, Qualifications and expertise required:

  • Relevant experience in an Oxygen field (desired) 


All relevant communications training will be provided, including information security, customer communication training, work scheduling, customer / patient interaction etc.

The above provides a core job description; however the post holder may be required from time to time to undertake such other duties as management may reasonably require.
